A Rich Man

© Al McKegg 2003

I had the strangest dream last night,

I’d lost my last buck.

My boat sprung a leak and sank,

Someone stole my truck.

My boots got robbed, I lost my job,

My bills were overdue

All I had left in my dream

Was you.

CHORUS

And I was a rich man

I was a rich man

You were by my side, and

I was a rich man

VERSE 2

I had left your breath in the night,

Whisperin’ in and out,

I touch you while you sleep and you smile.

I had left your skin to stroke,

your scent down in my chest.

your curls against my cheek

That’s what I had left

CHORUS

And I was a rich man

I was a rich man

With you by my side,

I was a rich man

VERSE 3

I walk along a moonlit road,

And a hundred miles away

The silver light that paints my path paints yours

If you were gone tomorrow

one thought would ease my pain

I cherished what we have

every minute of today.

CHORUS

I am a rich man

I know I’m a rich man

You’re still by my side, and

I am a rich man
